Visit Paris as a family: 20 ideas to discover the Capital with children.

Since I am a Parisian and I am telling here all about our trips with the children, in the end I hardly ever tell you about Paris as a destination for “family tourism”. Which museums, which neighbourhoods, which monuments to visit with the kids? Here is a first selection for a stay in the French Capital… I mean, besides the Eiffel Tower of course 😉

20 ideas to enjoy Paris as a family:

I hope you liked this first big stroll around Paris! To move in the city, underground and buses are very practical with the children. You just have to make sure to avoid the rush hours! And, concerning the line 14 of the underground, the one without drivers: hop into the first metro car because the children will love to see the railway and the tunnels through the front glass!

November 2019 update:

Many of you have asked me for tips on family-friendly accommodation in Paris. Since we’ve been living in England for over two years now, we’ve had several opportunities to return to the capital — which has meant staying in hotels or rentals, as our families don’t have enough room to host us… So here are a few places we’ve tried and approved!

Our favourite family accommodation in Paris:

  • Le Pavillon Monceau in Paris 17th, a lovely, upmarket district. The staff were friendly, the décor a bit dated, but we found it good value for money.
  • Hotel Joyce: stylish décor – in a more lively area, but well located.
  • Yooma Urban Lodge: a family-friendly hotel – simple, comfortable, and in a quiet neighbourhood.
  • Renting a flat: a practical option if you want to have a kitchen. Here’s a flat on Rue Richelieu (central, near Opéra Garnier and Bourse). We also spotted, though haven’t yet tried, this lovely loft in Montmartre. There are also plenty of options on Airbnb, so here’s my referral link (you and I will both receive a discount coupon).
  • Need help finding family accommodation in Paris? Since I know my city inside out, I can try to help! Contact me and let me know the number of adults/children, your dates, and your maximum budget. I’ll happily send you a few available options for free!

There you go! It was my first selection of visits as a family in the Capital! I prepare other ideas to share with you very soon! In the meantime, tell me: what were your crushes and the ones of your children in Paris?
